Home cinema at Private Island
Overlooking a world-famous city skyline, the open-plan design, devised to provide respite from the tropical heat, proved a significant challenge from a technological perspective, as bulky equipment needed to be kept out of sight yet kept cooled at its optimum working temperature.
While there are several clever innovations in this media room set-up, from an invisible set of speaker units recessed into the wall to a robotic finger used to activate the disc slot on a Bluray player hidden from view, the lighting is surely the crowning glory of this wonderful space. A floor-to-ceiling LED-accentuated wall draws attention to the far wall, while several interlocking ceiling panels, modelled on the sails of a ship, complement the rest of the room with warm, bright washes of light.
